How Therapy Is Offered
Therapy is offered in person, by phone and via a secure site. It is important to acknowledge that life can get busy at times making it difficult to connect to your therapist in person. If that is your situation, consider taking advantage of online counselling. I offer this through a very secure and confidential web-site.
I am also available for in home counselling for families who have a family member with mobility challenges or one who is developmentally disabled and has accessibility challenges making it difficult to come to an office. Please inquire.
Another unique form of therapy delivered throughout the warmer months is Walk and Talk Therapy (Walking counselling sessions). Just like it sounds, the client and therapist can conduct counselling while walking throughout lovely Port Credit or along the boardwalk by the lake. It is a great form of therapy that encourages physical movement, reduces anxiety and depression and can be meditative and grounding as it is conducted outdoors and in nature. It can be an excellent choice for those clients who struggle with anxiety, life transitions or just prefer a non-traditional environment. According to research, there are a number of benefits to walking while participating in therapy. For example when engaging in exercise while participating in a psychotherapy session, the combination can create better mental and physical well-being, it helps people to get “unstuck” when they are challenged by difficult issues and may encourage creative and deeper ways of thinking.
Modalities
The most important element of starting any counselling program is to make a connection with your therapist. This is called a “therapeutic alliance” and is the basis for having a good working relationship with your chosen therapist/counsellor. Take advantage of a free, non obligatory, 15 minute phone consultation to make sure that I am the right fit for your needs. I am confident that I can help.
